Why are installation instructions in the online help? Typically, this type of information would NOT be included in the online help, since accessing the help from the application means you’ve already installed the application. However, it is provided here as an online reference due to the fact that many use the online help as a comprehensive, standalone documentation resource. In addition to being included with the out-of-the-box code, the online help is also integrated into the public test drive, development and testing environments. Lastly, all documentation within the online help is printable, and many prefer to save direct links for future reference and print topics on demand. For these reasons, the installation information is included in the online help as well as in the PDF manual. |
