Medusa is a term used to refer to a graphic representation of the relationship between one or more electronic documents through the use of an expandable/collapsible tree view (the Medusa Hierarchy Tree). The Medusa page of the Institutional Proposal displays the Medusa tabbed section, which has two subsections:
- View: Allows for selection of Proposal » Award or Award » Proposal options and a refresh button that refreshes the tree view below this section based on your selection.
- Tree: Displays a hierarchical view of related documents that you can expand and collapse to see their relationship.
- By default, WVU+kc displays the Proposal to Award view of the hierarchy tree upon first display of the Medusa page. Document IDs are by default sorted in ascending order.

Click to open or close all folders and display all branches of tree. |
View |
Select the desired option to display a hierarchical relationship view from the Proposal to Award or vice versa. Select the radio button to indicate your selection of the desired option. |
Refresh Button |
Click the refresh button to update the hierarchical tree view. |
Folder/Document Icons |
Folders display a minus symbol and appear to be opened when their content is displayed; a plus symbol and closed appearance when their content is not expanded for viewing. Icons for documents differ depending on type: |
Document Links |
Click on a document link to display any subsections under it containing summarized details and identifying information about the document. |
