Select the Abstract Type of Deviation Authorization and include the needed text in the Abstract Details; click the Add button. Formatting, such as carriage returns will not be translated to the form so keep the text entered as basic as possible.

NSF Specific Instructions:

NSF must provide advance authorization for any deviations from standard NSF proposal preparation instructions.

Deviations may be authorized through specification of different requirements in an NSF solicitation (all applicants); or by the written approval of the cognizant NSF Assistant Director/Office Head or designee (individual requests).

See Chapter IV.B. of the GPG for additional information.

To identify a deviation in your KC application:

Ø Navigate to the Abstracts & Attachments tab > Abstracts panel > Deviation Authorization (abstract type) and utilize one of the following entries, as appropriate:

(a) Reference the solicitation number that authorized the deviation to this opportunity( all applicants); or

(b) Identify the name, date and title of the NSF official authorizing the deviation (individual deviation)

Ø Click the Add button.

Once an abstract is added, a timestamp & author for this entry is displayed at the left of the entry.
