How does money get into MAP? How is money spent?
Sources of Money
Money that is held in GL accounts can originate from several sources:
- State appropriations - money that is budgeted to WVU by the State Legislature
- Student tuition and fees - money paid by students who attend WVU
- Sales of items or services - revenue earned from food sales at the Mountainlair, tickets from football games, library fines, etc.
- Outside agencies - grant money from government or private organizations for research, building, or other projects
Expenditures
Money goes out of GL accounts to pay for many different functions at the University:
- Salaries for employees - faculty, staff, student workers
- Equipment - purchases of laboratory, grounds, or business equipment
- Buildings - constuction and repair of campus buildings
- Books - for the libraries and academic departments
- Utilitiy payments - electricity, water, internet, etc.
