The Sponsor & Program Information section contains information about the funding organization and the anticipated award from the Proposal Development document or the Proposal Log document.

Field

Description

Sponsor ID

Required. The unique identifier for the sponsor.  Enter the Sponsor ID in the text box. The Sponsor ID can be confirmed by clicking the direct inquiry direct inquiry button icon. If the Sponsor ID is unknown, click the search search icon icon to search.

  • When saved, WVU+kc uses the Sponsor ID to display the Sponsor Name in the Sponsor & Program Information section.

NSF Science Code

Conditionally required. This code is required for National Science Foundation (NSF) system-to-system (S2S) grants.gov submissions. Currently, WVU+kc does not allow for proposal submissions to grants.gov.

Sponsor Deadline Date

Optional. The date the proposal is due to the sponsoring agency. Enter the date in MM/DD/YYYY format or select the date by clicking the calendar icon.

Notice of Opportunity

Optional. The type of announcement. Select the type by clicking on the drop-down drop-down menu menu and selecting from the following options:

  • Federal Solicitation: Funding opportunity from a federal agency.
  • Unsolicited: Proposal not submitted in response to a published opportunity.
  • Verbal Request for Proposal: Informa request for a proposal, usual from the sponsor directly to the PI.
  • SBIR Solicitation: Small Business Innovation Research, a federal solicitation to a small business in which WVU will be a subcontractor.
  • STTR Solicitation: Small Business Technology Transfer, a federal solicitation to a small business in which WVU will be a subcontractor.
  • Non-Federal Solicitation: Funding opportunity from a non-federal source.
  • Internal: Internal WVU funding opportunity.

Does this proposal include subaward(s)?

Optional. Indicate whether the proposal includes subcontractor to other institutions or entities by clicking the selection checkbox box for Yes or No.

CFDA Number

Optional. The five-digit unique identifier for the sponsor and funding opportunity announcement (FOA) in the Catalog for Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA).  The first 2 digits identify the funding agency. The last 3 digits identify the specific federal program. Enter the CFDA Number in the text box.

Lead Organization (WVU or other)

Optional. The organization receiving the prime funding from the sponsor.

Sponsor Proposal ID

Optional Enter the unique identifier defined by the sponsor for the proposal in the text box.

Sponsor Deadline Type

Optional. The type of proposal deadline established by the sponsor.  Select the proposal deadline type by clicking on the drop-down drop-down menu menu options:

  • Postmark: The proposal must be postmarked by the submission deadline.
  • Receipt: The proposal must be received by the sponsor by the submission deadline.
  • Target: The proposal should be submitted by a certain date to be included in the sponsor’s review cycle, but proposals received after that date will still be reviewed.

Anticipated Award Type

Optional. The type of award expected to be offered to the project. Select the award type from the drop-down drop-down menu menu options:

  • Contract: A mechanism for procurement of a product or service with specific obligations for both sponsor and recipient. Typically, a research topic and the methods for conducting the research are specified in detail by the sponsor, often in the Request for Proposal (RFP) that announces the funding opportunity.
  • Grant: Financial assistance awarded for the conduct of research or other program as specified in an approved proposal. The sponsor anticipates no substantial programmatic involvement with the recipient during the performance of the activities.
  • Cooperative Agreement: Similar to a grant, but through which the sponsor’s staff may be actively involved in proposal preparation and anticipates having substantial involvement in research activities once the award has been made.

Opportunity

Optional. The unique identifier associated with each sponsor’s funding opportunity. Enter the opportunity identifier into the text box.

Deadline Type

Optional. The type of proposal deadline established by the sponsor. Select the type from the drop-down drop-down menu menu options:

  • Postmark: The proposal envelop must be postmarked by the submission deadline.
  • Received by Agency: The proposal must be received by the sponsor by the submission deadline.
  • Electronic Submission: The proposal is submitted electronically to the sponsoring agency.
